Step 2: Remove Rear Seat Back Remove (2) 10mm fasteners, near the bottom of the rear seat back, one on each side. The seat is held in at the back of the seat, near the top in three locations – each side and in the middle. Pull up on the seat at each location, and remove it from the car. |

Step 4: Assemble RSTB (Only required if shipped unassembled) Make sure there is anti-seize lubricant on the internal threads of each bracket or on the threads on each end of the center bar. The center hex bar has right hand threads on the driver side end and left hand threads on the passenger side end. There should already be a hex nut on each end of the center bar, if not thread one 5/8-18 (left handed thread) on the passenger side and one 5/8-18 (right handed thread) on the driver side end of the center hex bar. Thread the hex nuts approximately 2-1/2" onto the threads of the center bar, on each end. Thread the brackets on the ends of the center bar. Start the threads very carefully and continue threading slowly until the thread on the end of the center bar is fully engaged into the bracket. Repeat for the remaining bracket. |
|
Step 5: Install Assembly Place the assembly on the top of the strut towers, so the counterbored holes on each bracket fit over the studs. You may have to make a slight length adjustment by turning the center hex bar. Turning it one direction moves the brackets outward while turning it the opposite direction moves them inwards. Turn the center bar so that it pulls the brackets inward, until it is just snug. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!!! With both brackets in place over the strut mount studs, install the 12mm flange nuts and tighten to 18 - 22 ft.-lbs. (25 - 29 N-m). (3 each side) Tighten the hex nuts on each end of the center bar until they are tight against the block portion of the brackets. Replace the rear seat back, with 10mm fasteners (1 each side). Replace the rear seat bottom. |
