ActiveTuning 02-06 Nissan Altima Custom Koni Sport Front Struts Liability Agreement Introduction The quality of the installation of these performance struts and springs is the responsibility of the buyer and the warranty provided by ActiveTuning is limited to the actual installation of the insert into the strut body. For a detailed explanation please read below. Liability Agreement It has come to our attention that some problems may arise as a result of the Koni modified strut and lowering spring installation which may be in no way related to the Koni insert installation service provided by ActiveTuning. While we will make every effort to support the product and assist the do-it-yourself installer with the installation, we cannot be responsible for issues unrelated to the service provided by ActiveTuning. Because these struts are installed into existing strut housings, no warranty replacement is available from ActiveTuning, and ActiveTuning's sole liability shall be to repair an existing installation. If the lifetime warranteed Koni insert fails, the buyer will be responsible for obtaining and installing a replacement insert from Koni. One possible problem would be a spring popping noise that is caused by the spring trying to twist within its perches while steering or during suspension compression, and then suddenly succeeding in doing so. There will be a pop followed by some reverberation from the spring which can be felt inside the car. This is in no way related to the Koni modified strut, and this can happen with any spring installation. Please also insure that the installer is careful to properly seat the spring into the perches at both ends, properly assemble and align the components of the upper mount and bearing, and insure that all bolts and nuts are properly tightened. We have thoroughly researched Koni insert installations and related problems and discovered only two possible problems with the insert installation service provided by ActiveTuning. If the strut is cut too short, and the nubs integral to the body of the Koni insert are not within the strut housing, a knocking noise will be evident as the Koni insert wobbles within the strut housing during suspension movement. We properly cut the strut so that the nubs are within the body of the strut therefore this is an impossibility. The second is if the lower bolt securing the insert to the strut body loosens. We properly torque this bolt, and supplement the lockwasher provided by Koni with red Loctite to insure that it never loosens. As with any performance modification, the buyer needs to be aware that performance driving with stiffer springs and dampers will place additional stresses on numerous components which can shorten their lifespan. A performance suspension will transmit varying amounts of road feedback including pulling in either direction depending on road crown, as well as varying degrees of noise, vibration, and harshness transmitted to the driver which are dependent on damper settings, spring stiffness, and wheel/tire combinations. The Koni insert modification has been thoroughly tested both by ActiveTuning and by numerous other members of the online third generation Altima community. It has been proven to not only be completely reliable, but also one of the best performance suspension modifications currently available for this car. We hope you enjoy your custom ActiveTuning Konis on your Altima as much as we do on ours!! |
