PAT 4 > Issue 6: Sound System | Part 2: Speakers
Written By: David Pitlyuk

In order to install the front speakers, you will need to remove the door panel. First step in doing that is remove the screw in this little compartment:

Next pop off the whole piece that has the controls on it, and unplug the plugs connected to it:

Remove the two screws you see in the picture above

Next, hold open your door handle, and pop out that plastic piece (the left one). There will be a screw behind there, simply remove it.

Pop off the corner panel that holds the tweeter, and the rest of the door panel is held on by poppers...so get to popping:

Here's your factory speaker. To remove it, unplug, and take out the three screws.

We are going to use the factory spacers to mount the new speaker. So you'll need to cutout the factory speaker...unfortunately you won't be able to use it anymore:

You'll then need to tap into the factory speaker wires with new speaker wire. For the tweeters, we unmounted the factory ones, and then put the new ones in place. We used a hot glue gun to keep it in place. You can do the same, or even use zip ties.

For the crossover we drilled a hole in this location, and put a grommet in it to make sure the wires don't get frayed:

Then you'll want to do all the wiring for the crossover. We wrapped it in bubble wrap and put it inside of the door through speaker hole and just sat it in there. Then re-mount the speaker and you're all done!

For the passenger side, you would do the same thing, but there's a couple extra steps to remove the door panel. First you would pop off the silver handle cover:

Then remove the screws on the top and the bottom holes, and remove the handle:

The rest is the same as the drivers side.

Ok, ready for the rear speakers now?

You will need to do this for both the drivers and passenger sides. First pop off the door sill.

Then peel back the rubber lining and pop off the quarter panels

Pop off just the top of the plastic panel behind the seats like you did with the front speakers.

Open up the smaller compartments on top in-between the speakers, and just pull them out (they pop right out).

On the trunk side of that same panel, lift the carpet up and remove the poppers holding it in. Then pop the whole panel out and remove it.

Unscrew and remove the speakers:

Tap into the factory speaker wire, connect the new wire to the new speaker, and re-mount using the factory screws.

Put everything back together, and you're done!
