PAT 3 > Issue 4: First Run On The Dyno
Written By: David Pitlyuk

So we've done all this work to the car, but how we do know it's paid off? By doing a dyno on the car we can effectively measure the true performance that we are pumping out. This issue, we've done just that. Thanks to the guys over at eipTuning for providing our dyno runs and providing you guys with this great information.

Obviously this issue is going to be a little short, since there's not too much to show you. I'll post the dyno chart, and I've also compiled a video for you all to download. You'll get the link for that later on ;) Anyways, on to the good stuff, here's a chart showing the results from the dyno run. Read below for an explanation of everything.

Alright here's how this works. The top two lines that start out is torque, while the two bottom lines is horsepower. We did two pulls, one in 3rd gear, and the other in 4th gear, which is why you see two sets of torque and horsepower.

For the 2 torque lines, blue is the 3rd gear pull, and red is 4th gear pull. Same goes for the horsepower. Taking a look at the bottom numbers, we can see these results:

3rd Gear: 227.6 hp/237.7 ft/lbs tq
4th Gear: 223.2 hp/236 ft/lbs tq

The results are a little lower than I expected, but there are a few factors which need to be put into perspective. For one, I have 18" wheels with a 245 wide tire. That adds reciprocal weight, which affects the numbers on the dyno. Also, if you look at the numbers, you'll realize it was 86.5 and 87 degrees, which is pretty hot.

If you don't remember, we have these performance upgrades over stock:

I've compiled a pretty cool video, where you can check out eipTuning's shop, as well as both dyno runs. Check out the video here. Keep in mind, it is in Windows Media format, so you'll need Windows Media Player in order to view it.

Once again, thanks to eipTuning for providing the dynos. If you are interested in doing a dyno run on your car, check them out online or give them a call at 1-800-784-8100 and ask to speak to Rich. Make sure to tell them you heard about them from ActiveTuning!
