Nissan Altima Coupe In Person
July 18th, 2007 by Dave
I stopped by my local Nissan dealership a couple days ago and saw the new Altima Coupe for the first time. It looks nice, but there are two main gripes I had about it:
- The wheel gap is huge. This could obviously be changed very easily with springs, so it’s not a huge deal, and common with the Altima.
- I really don’t like that front grille. As usual, we normally manufacture a new grille for the car, but this time Nissan integrated it into the front bumper! This means if you want a new grille, you’ll have to change out the entire bumper…no good!
What do you think of the new Altima coupe?

from the side view (above) it looks like the newer eclipse which i hate, i dont think this coupe will be too successful in sales, although it has some cool features available, it would cost in the 30’s too purchase it with all the cool features. For that spend a little more and buy a G or 350z.
I’m in complete agreeance with the price comment you made. I priced one out on the Nissan site, and by that time I’d rather have purchased a used G35 Coupe fully loaded. But I guess if you want a brand new car, and can’t quite afford the G37 (which I’m sure will be slightly more expensive than the old G35) then the Altima Coupe is for you.
I work for a Nissan dealership here at Henderson, NV and the Altima coupe is one of the best looking coupes out there in the market. The gripes I have about it is the interior room, which I can live with because it is a coupe. The interior is okay. Nissan should have made an exclusive interior for the Altima Coupe, looks too plain jane for me in the inside compared with the outside. I have to agree with how the wheels looks dwarfed because of the way the fenders bulges. Overall it is a good design. Better than the ’smaller’ interior of the 2007 Altima sedan and it is the few Nissan’s that I look forward to looking at everyday in the dealership.
*note: i am a devoted nissan/infiniti fan, just some of their newer designs (altima sedan with the smaller interior compared to the outgoing model and the abysmal designed sentra lineup and their se-r/specV variants).
I agree with the wheel design. But to be honest I am not too fond of the new design over all. It definitely is something new and interesting, but when I saw the new Altima I thought “Is this a Z..wait…Maxima..no wait…G?..no…”
Its just that it looks like they just mixed everything together and decided to see what happens. For example: the headlights are a lot like those of G35, tail-lights (which kinda go on the side) reminded me of the Z and from the front, the headlights which have these almost square angles reminded me of the maxima. I am not too fond of the design its self but yet I like it because its new. So basically it is something I’d drive a few times but not own. With all honesty, my favorite Altimas are the 2002-2006 models (2005 more so because of the aggressive headlights).

its just me? Altima coupe looks like G6 side way and back.
I like the sedan much better than coupe.
i personly test drove this car and to me it seems like a very nice car i like the engine and stuff
Is it just me, or is every dealer placing a ridiculous markup on the new Altima coupes? I went out to a local dealer to check them out (I live in the Bay Area) and the 2.5S version was almost 29k. I know the coupes are new and all but it’s hard to imagine paying that much for an Altima =/
