According to Automobile Magazine Nissan will be redesigning the 2009 Maxima to something unlike anything they have done before. The original plan for the Maxima was to market it as a “four-door sports car”, but it lost that feeling. Now it’s just more of a Camry/Accord competitor. Nissan wants to bring that back, expect something more like the Mercedes CLS. You should also expect it to be FWD so it doesn’t compete too much with the Infiniti G35. We should see a concept by Winter time.

I have heard of this as well Dave. And from what I hear at the dealership that I work for is that Nissan is going to put a V8 motor into the upcoming Maxima as well as a diesel engine. I hope that Nissan does this redesign right and I also hope that they do track testing at the german track to better the suspension and that they add at least the attesa-ets 2nd generation to the vehicle, cause with all that V8 power it will be a torque steer monster!

I have a 2001 AE SE. I hope Nissan will recapture the 4DSC spirit in the next generation. I hope that Nissan will have some or all of these items:

    1. VQ 3.0L with 280 hp that runs on regular gas.
    2. AWD/HICAS
    3. 6 speed DSG type transmission.
    4. No leather.
    5. No sunroof.
    6. Active in cabin sound suppression.
    7. 10L/100 km city and 8L or less highway.
    8. Possibility for active suspension.
    9. 3300 lbs or less.

    Good luck Nissan!

The New maxima needs rear wheel active steer, the 4.5 Nissan V8, stock nineteen and twenty inch rims, rear view cam, parktronic, distronic, and be made in an SE-R version.

Have you heard anything more about the 2009 Maxima at your dealership? I almost bought a 2008 but plan to hold out until the 09 comes out.

my dealership has told me that they have no information on an ‘09 model … for obvious reasons.

Nissan has lost it twice so far ….

First, when the current Maxima replaced the previous model …. Oh God, I hate the current design!

Second, when they replaced the old Infiniti M-45 with the new M-45!

The old Maxima and old M-45 were elegantly wild! totaly unique and different than any thing else! I missed them!

Based on what I have seen so far, there is not much hope for Maxima 2009 either!

I work for a dealership and the 2009 Maxima will be out this year. As of now they are planning for a release later this year. The front end almost looks like a cadillac.

  9. [...] finally see the completely redesigned 2009 Nissan Maxima. Back in May we mentioned that the Maxima would be going back to its sports roots…it looks as if that may have possibly been the case. Check out these teaser shots, expect [...]
